South Australian Clubs Shine at 2026 Australian Boardrider’s Battle in Burleigh Heads

Published on 13/05/2026

March 2026: South Australian surfing made a strong statement at the 2026 Australian Boardriders Battle, held in powerful, pumping conditions at Burleigh Heads. Competing against some of the most established and decorated boardrider clubs in the country, SA teams delivered one of their most impressive collective performances to date.

Leading the charge was the Seaford Boardriders, which recorded the state’s best result ever at the event. The team produced a dominant, heat-by-heat campaign, knocking out several heavyweight Australian clubs and advancing all the way to the semi-finals. Their run was marked by composed decision-making in challenging surf and a powerful, committed approach to every wave.

The squad was guided by former World Tour surfer Dion Atkinson, whose experience and leadership helped shape the team’s confident and aggressive performance throughout the event. Under his guidance, Seaford consistently rose to the occasion, taking on and defeating some of the country’s strongest lineups.

South Australia’s representation was further strengthened by the South Coast Boardriders Club, which also delivered a solid performance and represented the state with pride. While not advancing as far as Seaford, their effort contributed to a standout overall showing for South Australian clubs on the national stage.

The event was proudly hosted and supported by Surfing Australia, which once again delivered a high-quality competition showcasing the depth of talent within Australia’s boardrider club system.

For South Australian surfing, the results signal a growing competitiveness on the national circuit, with Seaford Boardriders’ semi-final run setting a new benchmark for future teams to chase.
