The 2024 Yorkes Classic delivered an exciting day of surfing action in small but contestable 2-3 ft waves. Held under clear skies on a warm winter’s day, the event provided perfect conditions for both competitors and spectators.
The competition saw a high standard of surfing with fierce battles across all divisions. . The final was closely contested, culminating in a nail-biting finish that secured last year’s men’s champion, Luke Sykora a back-to-back victory.
In the Open Women’s division, young Allegra Carretti emerged as a clear winner, showcasing her talent. The Junior Boys division was won by King Cairns, further highlighting the bright future of South Australian surfing.
As one of South Australia’s most prestigious surfing events, the Yorkes Classic not only celebrates local talent but also crowns the Open Men’s and Women’s winners as the South Australian state titleholders. These champions will go on to represent South Australia at the Australian Surfing Championships in 2025.
The success of the 2024 Yorkes Classic wouldn’t have been possible without the tremendous efforts of volunteers and the support of sponsors.
