A brand new Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps Series is set to start with event one – of the ten-event series – kicking off in Kiama on September 5th.
Approximately 90 competitors are expected to enter each stop in the series apart from South Australia and Tasmania (approximately 50 competitors expected) which will see some of the nation’s most promising young surfers competing for a range of prizes.
“Woolworths is excited to be heading into our 5th year of supporting Australian junior surfers via the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps. While this series helps to develop groms in a fun and competitive surfing environment, it also aligns with Woolworths mission to inspire fresh food kids” – Aysha Down Marketing Manager – Brand Partnerships, Woolworths.
Regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, the 10-event Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps series caters for surfers from Under 8 to Under 14 and will be held in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania and South Australia over summer.
Surfing Australia, Head of Events Beau Brenchley said: “This national series is a fun and friendly introduction to surf competition and has helped form the careers of some of Australia’s best professional surfers. It’s a critical part of our event series program and we can’t wait to see what the kids can do when things kick off in September.”
“We’re thankful for Woolworth’s continued support of junior surfing in the country as naming rights partner to the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps.”
